About the Farewell Weekend

Our roarsome reunion will take place over 3 days:

Friday 3rd October – entry at 2:30pm and 3pm with the event closing at 4pm. These slots are intended to be our ‘quiet slots’ and therefore please do book this one if you think this would benefit you.

Saturday 4th October – 10am – 4pm

Sunday 5th October: 10am – 4pm

On the 4th and 5th, entry slots every 30 minutes, view at your leisure.

The whole Pride, both large and small lions will be at this exclusive event at the iconic Cheltenham Racecourse.

This is your last chance to snap a roarsome selfie, purchase raffle tickets and get your hands on some Lions at Large Merchandise.

Tickets cost £6 per adult, £3 per child (age 2-15) and under 2’s are free.

Alternatively, you can purchase a family ticket for £15 (2 adults and up to 3 children).

Important Information

Where do I park?

The entry point for the Lions at Large event is the Hall of Fame Entrance.

Access the racecourse via the main entrance towards the Gatehouse. At the Gatehouse you will be stopped by security. Please inform them you are here for an event. Following this, head towards Hall of Fame Car Park. This Car Park is signposted as soon as you go past the Gatehouse. Turn right into the Hall of Fame Car Park. Once in the Car Park, head to the Hall of Fame entrance. Once at the entrance please head down the Centaur Stairs (see separate FAQ for accessible route). Once at the bottom of Centaur Stairs please take the doors outside and turn left. Do not head down the ramp when turning left. Instead stay on the same level path. After a very brief walk you will arrive at the See You Then area.

Stewards will also be on hand to ensure you are guided in the correct direction.

There will be separate queues for people who have purchased tickets and people who are buying o the day tickets.

 

Is there an accessible route?

Once at the entrance please head past the Centaur Stairs and follow the instructions for the lift. Once out of the lift, please take the doors outside and turn left. Do not head down the ramp when turning left. Instead stay on the same level path. After a very brief walk you will arrive at the See You Then area.

Do I have to pre book tickets?

It is advised that you pre book tickets ahead of coming to the event to ensure you can gain entry (you also save money by pre booking).

On the day tickets will be available subject to availability.

Ticket prices on the gate will be:

Adults: £8

Children: £5

Under 2’s: Free

Family Ticket (up to 2 adults and 3 children): £25

Where do I go once I am inside?

The event is taking place around the ‘See You Then‘ area of the racecourse. You can either use the steps or accessible route to get to us. There’ll be plenty of stewards on hand to support on the day.

Can I leave and return?

Once you are inside the event you are welcome to stay as long as you’d like. Once you leave the area you will not be able to re admitted.

Is the event inside or outdoors?

The event is outdoors and therefore we advise that you dress appropriately for the weather.

The event will take place at the See you then area and outdoor space surrounding this.

All the sculptures will be on hardstanding ground and not grass.

Can I buy merchandise at the event?

Lions at Large merchandise will be available (subject to availability).

Raffle tickets will also be available to buy for £1 each.

A special souvineer farewell brochure will also be available (£5). This will include all the unlock codes if you are using the Lions at Large App.

Will refreshments be available?

Cheltenham Racecourse will run a cafe where drinks and snacks will be available to purchase.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are not allowed at this event (with the exception of assistance dogs).

What is the Farewell Event

At the end of the Lions at Large Trail, there is the chance to see all the Lions (both large and small) in one place for the first and final time.

How do the time slots work?

You select a ticket for a 30 minute entry slot. Please arrive during the selected time.

Once you are in the event, you are free to view at your leisure.
