The King of the Jungle comes to King’s Walk!
Date published: 22 May 2025
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that King’s Walk have sponsored a large lion sculpture on the Pride of Gloucestershire Trail!
King’s Walk is a central part of Gloucester’s retail landscape and contributed significantly to the city’s regeneration. It is made up of three main business elements:
• King’s Walk Shopping Centre is a covered high-street shopping centre featuring many retailers, including Putt Putt Social, River Island and The Entertainer.
• King’s Square is Gloucester’s iconic city centre space. Home to events for all the family, from outdoor cinemas and tea dance’s, through to festive entertainment, heritage days and high impact community events.
• The Forum, set to open fully in late 2025, will consist of a four-star hotel, office space, cafes, bars, a gym, retail units and a car park that features a living wall!
The Lions at Large Trail will see 32 majestic lion sculptures roaring onto the streets in Cheltenham and Gloucester, each one painted by our incredible artists. Our Cub Club will also be joining in the fun too; 52 little lions lovingly created by local schools, nurseries and community groups will be taking pride of place in local businesses across the county.

Will James, Marketing and Commercialisation Manager for King’s Walk, in supporting the pride commented:
“We are truly excited and proud to be playing a part in the Pride of Gloucestershire Trail. As one of the most well-known and frequently visited spaces in the city, we felt it was vital that our communities had the chance to be involved with such a monumental fundraising opportunity.”
The funds raised from Lions at Large will help to transform cancer care in Gloucestershire through The Big Space Cancer Appeal. A new state-of-the-art facility is planned to support patients, their loved ones and NHS staff, as well updating the existing facilities in the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre.
Carrie Smith, Project Manager for Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity, said:
“We would like to say a huge thank you to King’s Walk for roaring into action as a sponsor for our Lions at Large Trail! From the vibrant shopping centre, community events at King’s Square and the exciting new business hub at The Forum – it is fantastic to have the King’s Walk team on board supporting this city-wide celebration. Together, we are making Gloucestershire even prouder, bolder and brighter!”
