Girlguiding Gloucestershire has joined the pride with a limited-edition challenge badge to fundraise for Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity.
Girlguiding Gloucestershire has created a unique Pride of Gloucestershire Trail badge where members have been asked to take part in a variety of challenges. These include lion themed activities such as crafts and quizzes, taking part in the Lions at Large Trail, as well as tasks focused on bravery and courage.
The badges are £1.50 each plus postage and will be available on the Girlguiding Gloucestershire website.
The Pride of Gloucestershire Trail will see more than 30 majestic lions individually decorated by artists, taking to the streets of both Cheltenham and Gloucester this Summer.
They will also be joined by the Cub Club, a pride of 56 little lions decorated by local schools and community groups.
The trail has been organised by Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity to raise money for The Big Space Cancer Appeal – fundraising for a new, state-of-the-art cancer centre at Cheltenham General Hospital to help transform cancer care in Gloucestershire.
Jodie Sabin, Volunteer with Girlguiding Gloucestershire said “We are delighted to be taking part in the Lions at Large Trail and have signed up to fundraise for two Cub Club lions. Our badge will encourage our members to take part in fun lion themed activities, as well as exploring the trail and learning more about our local hospital charity, whilst at the same time raising money for this important appeal. Our young members have helped us design our lions and will be involved in painting them as well, so we are all very excited to see them on display in the summer.”

Girlguiding Gloucestershire are also the only Cub Club group member who has committed to fundraising not one, but two little lions – one in each of the Cheltenham and Gloucester locations.
As part of the Cub Club, a Learning Programme in partnership with Spirax Sarco has been designed to inspire young minds across all educational settings. This programme offers an interactive resource pack filled with fun, hands-on learning activities. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend exclusive workshops and an Inspiration Day, helping to spark creativity as they decorate their little lions. This initiative will reach over 20,000 young people across the county.
After Lions at Large finishes, the whole pride will reunite for a farewell weekend before heading to auction to raise money for the project.
Carrie Smith, Project Manager at Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity, added: “A huge roar of thanks to Girlguiding Gloucestershire for their incredible support in creating the Lions at Large Challenge Badge! Your enthusiasm and dedication will not only bring adventure to Guiding’s young members, but will also help transform cancer care in Gloucestershire. Thanks to your efforts, we’re making a real difference – one badge, one challenge and one brave roar at a time!”
